Andrea Miranda Salas is a designer and maker of objects based in Brooklyn,New York.
She was born in Cartago,Costa Rica and migrated to the states as a child, where her nifty and strong willed mother worked many factory jobs and witnessed the steady decline in the manufacturing industry during the mid 1980’s.
After earning an undergraduate degree in product design from Parsons School of Design, she lived in New York City and traveled extensively. Being exposed to large scale manufacturing overseas in China & India and small scale production in remote villages in Nicaragua, Peru and Guatemala, helped her realize the power of design and all that it influences.
Her professional experience includes 10 years as a product designer for small design studios & large corporations. She also serves as a consultant to artisan businesses working with communities in Central & South America, among other countries, providing concept, design direction & product development for the home industry. She firmly believes design, craft & production are vital in stimulating economic growth in underdeveloped regions.
In 2016, AMS launched Adornment Objects, a brand that is the output of an accumulation of material studies, knowledge of production techniques and appreciation of well crafted objects.
All work is produced in house at our studio in Brooklyn, New York.
